Abstract

Four chelate complexes, [ Co( CNC(6)H(3)iPr(2)-2,6)(3)P(C6H4Me-p)(2)CH2CH2P( C6H4Me-p)(2)]BF4, [Co(CNC(6)H(3)iPr(2)-2,6)(3)PPh2CH=CHPPh2-cis]BF4, [Co(CNC(6)H(3)iPr(2)-2,6)(3)PPh2C6H4PPh2-o] BF4, and [Co(CNC(6)H(3)iPr(2)-2,6)(3)P(C6H4CF3-p)(2)CH2CH2P(C6H4CF3-p)(2)] BF4, have been synthesized by substitution reactions of [ Co( CNC(6)H(3)iPr(2)-2,6)(5)] BF4 at elevated temperatures and/ or prolonged reaction times. The complexes have been characterized by IR and electronic spectra, P-31 NMR, cyclic voltammetry, and mass spectrometry. Comparisons are made with the pentakis( arylisocyanide) cobalt(I) complexes mono- substituted with diphosphine ligands.
