Abstract

Taking into account the interaction between transport phenomena and chemical reactions, the analysis of the dynamic behavior and the investigation of systems response in case of counter-current reactor (CCR) operation was made. The mathematical modeling and numerical simulations of the behavior of a monolith reactor operating in counter-current mode was addressed. A pseudo-homogeneous mathematical model is used to investigate the reactor for the selective catalytic reduction of NO. with ammonia. As analysis criteria have been used the reactants conversion and temperature profiles inside the apparatus. The numerical simulations revealed that the technically simpler counter-current reactor enables the NOx emission control in the condition of high internal heat transfer coefficient between the streams and monolith support.
