Abstract

Integrated Health Information System through Mobile Telephony (IHISM) is a project carried out by Computer Science department at the University of Botswana. The main objective of the research project is to develop an integrated healthcare information portal which provides access to a variety of HIV/AIDS related information for different users. The system is in a form of a Questions and Answer (Q&A) System where users submit queries to the portal through a mobile phone interface. In this paper we propose a parsing technique as part of the retrieval system to aid in matching the relevant answers to, as much as possible, the SMS question being asked. The system is the evaluated using information retrieval performance metrics: recall precision and rejection.
