Abstract

A recent study involving the use of seismic refraction and D.C. resistivity methods was carried out in the Barkumbo valley in Bauchi town. The results of the study revealed a general deepening of the central floor of the valley towards its northern and southern edges. A low depth-to-basement occurs northwards along some of the selected profiles. In addition, the margins of some of the profiles revealed a greater depths-to-basement. These areas appear to be parallel to the dominant fracture pattern (N-S and E-W) and are most likely related to it. Towards the southern end of the area, the high areas join to form a basin. -from Authors
