Abstract

The present paper describes the mathematical model of the process, using electrochemical, thermodynamic and kinetic equations. The mathematical model of the cell is composed of mass, heat and voltage balance equations, taking into account significant facts such as the developing of the gas bubbles, the changing of the flowing profile of the amalgam, the mixing in the cell and others. The program computes the parameters along the cell (concentrations, temperatures), the interelectrode voltage on each anodic line and their components. A fairly good match of the computed data was observed with the experimental ones. The model can be used in Optimisation and Expert System control of the electrolysis process.
