Abstract

Development banks’ role in the development of less developed regions is well recognised but inadequately emphasised as these institutions help to promote, nurture and support industrial development. The main objective of this paper is to determine the role of development banks in promoting industrialisation in Zimbabwe. Multivariate regression analysis using e-views 3.1 was engaged to analyse time series data on the roles of development banks in Zimbabwe. As statistically verified, development banking activities have not been so influential on fixed capital investment. For this reason, if national development banks are to partner with the regional development banks, there is likelihood of structuring long term funding, allowing the country to target meaningful industrialisation projects.
